Kansas Travel Directory
The Heartland's Historic Crossroad
The Jefferson Highway through Kansas follows the state's eastern border, running through the heart of the historic Southeast Kansas Coal Field. This route is unique, as it shares its path with both the Frontier Military Historic Byway and the famous Route 66 near the Oklahoma border. Travelers will discover the heritage of the "Amazon Army" and a rich tradition of mining and community activism. The Kansas section provides a short but essential link between Missouri and Oklahoma on the "Pine to Palm" route.
