Missouri Travel Directory
The Show-Me State's Historic Corridor
The Jefferson Highway through Missouri follows a north-south alignment that was once critical to connecting the nation's heartland. The route primarily follows the U.S. 69/71 corridor through the western half of the state, serving historic railroad towns like Cameron and St. Joseph (where the highway association had its headquarters). From the majestic Missouri State Capitol in Jefferson City to the birthplace of President Harry S. Truman, the Missouri route is filled with Civil War history, frontier legends, and key intersections with other legendary auto trails, including the Pikes Peak Ocean to Ocean Highway.
